Senator Kaka Quiz Competition 2019: OAU shine again on UI soil

Barely three weeks after Animal Science graduates of Obafemi  Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife won  coveted prizes at the 2019 Graduate Animal Scientists induction ceremony which held on 27 November 2019 at the University of Ibadan (UI), students of Department of Animal Sciences of OAU returned to the same UI on 17 December 2019 to win the golden trophy in the SENATOR KAKA INTERVARSITY QUIZ COMPETITION.

The competition has been an annual event since 2014 under the patronage of Senator Adegbenga Sefiu Kaka, a worthy alumnus of UI Animal Science, Registered Animal Scientist, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former deputy governor of Ogun State.

The 2019 finals of the competition was contested by four Departments of Animal Science from: University of Ibadan, Ibadan; Federal University of Technology, Akure; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife;  and Federal University of Technology, Minna.

The OAU team led by Mr Idris Adesiyan lived up to their popular appellation “Great Ife” to emerge in the first position and win the trophy and cash reward. Federal University of Technology, Akure, came out first runner up and Federal University of Technology, Minna,  was second runner.

Among dignitaries who graced the event include Senator Adegbenga Sefiu Kaka himself, Professor D.O. Adejumo, Hon. Jinadu, Professor Tolu Ososanya, General Secretary of Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN),  Dr. Abu Okeomah, Dr. Favour Agboola, Dr. O.A Adebiyi , Mr. Adebayo Mateen Kehinde, the National President of Animal Science Students Association of Nigeria (ASSAN), and other national executives and chapters executives.

Senator Kaka was also awarded at the event by ASSAN for his consistent contribution towards the development of the Nation through Improvements on Animal science and practice.
