The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has strongly refuted the rumor currently trending in the social media about cattle infected with cattle plague disease (another version may say bovine tuberculosis) in the northern part of the country.
The trending news concocted by one Victor Akpuru purported claimed that the cattle plague epidemic in Nigeria was announced by the World Health Organisation on 30th June 2019. Nigerians were thus enjoined to desist from eating beef.
The NCDC through a press release which was made available on its website (https://www.ncdc.gov.ng/news/187/response-to-rumour-of-bovine-tuberculosis-in-beef-in-northern-nigeria) strongly dispel this rumor and enjoined Nigerians to disregard the news as fake.
