The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) has announced the suspension of her annual national congress for the year 2020, citing the need to contain the spread and minimize the effect of Covid-19 pandemic, as the main reason.
The council equally viewed the apparent reported lack of clarity and heated political atmosphere in Edo state in respect of the forthcoming 2020 gubernatorial election as worrisome and demands for cautions. The 2020 National Congresshas been slated to hold in Benin, Edo State. However the Council suggest that the congress still hold in the same venue in 2021, if the situation improves.
The Council thereby directed that the present executives of the NVMA headed by the Acting President should continue in office till October, 2021 when a substantive National Executive will be formally elected into office.
The release was signed by Dr Oladotun Fadipe as the Secretary General of NVMA.
