ASAN Chairman Board of Trustees, Alhaji Azeez Oladotun Bello dies at 74

The death has been announced of Alhaji Azeez Oladotun Bello, an animal nutritionist, agriculturist, administrator and entrepreneur per excellence.  He was born into the Begbaaji Bello dynasty in Ibadan, Oyo state. Until his death, he was the chairman, Board of Trustees of Animal Science Association of Nigeria; member, Board of Trustees, Lagelu Grammar School Old Boys Association; Pro-Chancellor & Chairman of the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state and a Fellow of Nigeria Institute of Animal Science. He died in the early hours of Tuesday 15 October 2019 in Atlanta Georgia, USA at the age of 74.

Alhaji Azeez Oladotun Bello studied animal science at the prestigious University of Ibadan, bagging  B Sc. Agric (Animal Nutrition and Biochemistry) in 1971, and thereafter studied for MBA at the University of Lagos (1976-1977). He worked with Pfizer Incorporated International and retired as Deputy Managing Director at an early age of 44 in 1989 to establish his private business, Azemor Agribiz Ltd where he was the Executive Chairman till his death.  

Alhaji Bello was one of the founding fathers of Animal Science of Nigeria as well as a formidable force behind the establishment of Nigerian Institute of Animal Science. He was a staunch member of both bodies till his death. He was a great stabilizer, an epitome of wisdom and was loved by all and sundry in his profession.  

Alhaji  Bello held several board positions in reputable companies and organization including Pfizer Incorporated International; Animal Science Association of Nigeria; Vigeo Holding Limited; Centre Spread Advertising; CTI insurance; SMARTEK Limited; Scan Home Limited; Lagelu Grammar School Old Boys Association  and; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.  He was equally a member of a number of social clubs among which were Ikeja Lions Club (Past President) and  Oluyole Club, Ibadan.

Alhaji Azeez Oladotun Bello is survived by his wife, Alhaja Yinka Bello and children.

The entire Animal Science family mourns the demise of a great icon and philanthropist. May the Almighty Allah grant him aljana firdaous.
